How to Apply for the Rebate

Ensure your system is installed with a smart inverter that meets Ameren’s “smart inverter” specification (see Ameren form for details).
Complete the Illinois Distributed Generation Rebate Application found on Ameren’s website.
Submit the application along with required documentation (inverter specification sheet, photo of settings, W-9 if business, as-built diagram) to Ameren.
If you’re a Sun Collectors customer, your consultant will guide you through the process and help with submitting the application.
Once approved, you receive the rebate payment per the applicable rate class.

Important Considerations & Fine Print

If your system was granted permission to operate before January 1, 2025, you may be under legacy net-metering rules. Choosing the DG Rebate could affect your net-metering benefits (for example credits for different bill components).
The smart inverter must be configured for grid support functions (e.g., communication, reactive power, ride-through) as required by Ameren’s standards.
Rebates apply to the inverter/interconnection portion and may differ if paired with battery storage systems (storage may have separate rebate amounts).
